Preparations begin for 2005 County Fair

The Hood River County Fair will be July 27-30 this year at the Hood River County Fairgrounds in Odell. And although the fair itself is more than a month away, there are some important deadlines to know about:

Entry times for open class exhibits are 1-8 p.m. on Monday, July 25 and 8-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26 for art, baked foods, ceramics, clothing, food preservation, hobbies and handcrafts, photography, textiles and youth baked foods. Entry time for fruits and vegetables is from 8-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, in the floral building (this date and time ONLY). Small animals can be registered from 6-7 p.m. on July 26, and flowers can be registered from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27.

I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"

‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January. The singers braved a sudden squall to finish their song and about 220 people gathered in HRMS auditorium, which will be the scene of the April 12 town hall with Rep. Greg Walden, at 3 p.m. Enlarge
