Eagle girls tennis doubled Up

The HRV girls tennis team had a rough go of it Friday against Central Oregon powers Redmond and Mountain View. Redmond swept the Eagles 8-0, while the Eagles hung around with Mountain View before losing 5-3. The Eagles also lost doubles player Vanessa Sandoval to an injury during the match, which HRV coach Leslie Kerr said was a big blow for the team. Winning for the Eagles against Mountain View were Claire Rawson in singles (pictured serving in a doubles match against Hermiston last week), Miranda Starr and the undefeated doubles team of Naomi Greenwald and Ellie Webb. The Eagles JV team traveled to a tournament at La Salle High School Saturday and took second.

I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"

‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January. The singers braved a sudden squall to finish their song and about 220 people gathered in HRMS auditorium, which will be the scene of the April 12 town hall with Rep. Greg Walden, at 3 p.m. Enlarge
