Scott Pemberton at Pint Shack
Fans of funk, blues and rock should enjoy The Scott Pemberton Trio, playing on Friday, Aug. 23, at the Pint Shack in Hood River. Music starts at 10 p.m. Critics say “Classic rock, jazz, psychedelia and everything in between collide and fuse around Pemberton’s music, that jumps with ease from the composer to the listener in a hyper-caffeinated cocktail of bar music done right.” The Pint Shack, 105 Fourth St., Hood River; 541-387-7600.
Songwriters team up Sept. 13
Jim MacMillan, Mark Daly and Alonzo Garbanzo team up for a house concert on Friday, Sept. 13, at 401 Montello, Hood River. It’s an evening of original songs from three local musicians with different styles and approaches to music. Music starts at 7:30 p.m. All-ages show. $15 donation at the door.
Pigs on the Wing Sept. 7
Pink Floyd tribute band Pigs on the Wing make their semi-annual return to the Waucoma Club on Saturday, Sept. 7. Dance at HR Elks Sept. 5
Do you already miss the dancing downtown on Thursday nights? Then head on over to the Hood River Elks Lodge on Thursday, Sept. 5, for dancing to the rhythms of the Mike Stillman Band. The Elks lodge features a 2,000-square-foot dance floor. Basic beginner lessons start at 7 p.m. and the live music starts at 7:30. $5 cover charge per person; no membership is required for this community event. ‘Wild & Scenic’ films Sept. 20-21
Two nights of thought-provoking films are presented by the Wild & Scenic Film Festival — this year the theme is “A Climate of Change,” as the films will explore everything from kayaking big waterfalls to changes that are affecting oyster production on Washington’s coast. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21 at the Columbia Center for the Arts. Tickets are $9 per night, $15 weekend pass. Doors open at 6 p.m.; films at 7. Benefit for the Crag Law Center.
