Gabriel Ortega

Gabriel Ortega from The Dalles and Martha Verduzco from Hood River announce with great sadness the passing of their twin baby boy, Gabriel Jesus Ortega, who was born Feb. 28, 2013.

They will be honoring him at a Mass on Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Hood River, with burial and reception to follow, along with friends and family.

Gabriel will be missed by brothers and sister Alexander J. Ortega (his twin) and Monique and Angel Yañez; grandparents Sue and Gabriel Ortega, of The Dalles, and Socorro and Felipe Verduzco, of Hood River; and aunts and uncles Darcy Weise and Patti, Jesus, Felipe and Julio Verduzco.

Carol Corsale

Carol J. Corsale, 88, passed away peacefully March 7, 2013, at the Oregon Veterans Home in The Dalles, Ore. Carol was born in Wauwatosa, Wis., to Alma Paul and Fred Terwilliger on Feb. 8, 1925.

I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"

‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January.
