Friday, Nov. 8: Blackberry Bushes Stringband, 9:30 p.m. NW alt. folk. “The Blackberry Bushes’ innovative acoustic sound draws from the deep roots of American traditional music to create a rich patchwork that shares threads with artists like Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Sean Hayes and Crooked Still.”
Saturday, Nov. 9: Smoke On The Water, 9:30 p.m.
Uptempo folk-rock. One of the newest additions to the Gorge music scene, Hood River’s own Smoke On The Water hits the Cebu stage for the first time with their brand of sunny folk-rock, featuring Ryan Kolberg, Greg Steigel, Matt Willett, and special guests like Nolan Hare and Mike Stillman. Country Dance returns Nov. 9
The Second Saturday Country Dance at the Rockford Grange on Barrett Road in Hood River is back on Nov. 9 from 7-10 p.m. The dance caller will be Ned Leager from Portland and live music will be provided from Lanny and the Georgettes. Dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. All ages welcome, no partner required. Family friendly, all dances walked through first time. Enjoy an evening of country squares, contras, circle dances and a few waltzes. $6 for members, $7 for non-members, $1 for youth and students. Please bring snack treats for break time. ‘Speedqueen’ plays Nov. 9

Countryside Ride in Trout Lake
Countryside Ride Band, a Northwest classic country/western and roots-style honky-tonk band, will be at the historic Trout Lake Inn on Saturday, Nov. 16, starting at 8 p.m. Portland band Copper & Coal opens the show with its “tight harmonies, soaring pedal steel and fiddle, and a deep respect for the country tradition of the ’40s and ’50s” sound. $5 admission. I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"
‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January. The singers braved a sudden squall to finish their song and about 220 people gathered in HRMS auditorium, which will be the scene of the April 12 town hall with Rep. Greg Walden, at 3 p.m. Enlarge
