Margaret Reed, 94, passed away Nov. 25, 2013, surrounded by her caregivers at Hawks Ridge Assisted Living Community in Hood River, Ore. Margaret was born Jan. 23, 1919.

Lara Voeks

Lara Voeks, 42, of Hood River, Ore., passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 11, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Robert Voeks, and sons Owen, Leif, Bobby and Kai.

At this time, the family is in the process of making funeral arrangements. A memorial will take place for Lara in Hood River when the family returns from their work overseas.

I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"

‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January. The singers braved a sudden squall to finish their song and about 220 people gathered in HRMS auditorium, which will be the scene of the April 12 town hall with Rep. Greg Walden, at 3 p.m. Enlarge
