The following is a list of events for Lent and Easter week at various local churches. Community members are invited to any of these activities.
Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek Road
n Through April 6 — Sunday evening Lenten soup suppers and study sessions, 5-7 p.m. Come for one session or for all.
Soup Supper will be served at 5 p.m. followed by group studies for all ages. Child care will be provided for the youngest children. Each evening concludes in a brief time of song, reflection and meditation, finishing before 7 p.m.
n Sunday, April 13 — Palm Sunday worship, 10:30 a.m., with Parade of Palms processional
n Thursday, April 17 — Maundy Thursday service, 7 p.m., featuring the chancel choir performing a cantata called “The Shadow of the Cross” under the direction of Carolyn Ternahan
n Saturday, April 19 — The Hoppening, 10 a.m., for all ages: breakfast, program, egg hunt
Sunday, April 20 — Easter Sunday
7 a.m. Early worship
8-9:15 a.m. Breakfast served by church youth
9:30 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages
10:30 a.m. Easter worship
Pine Grove-Odell Methodist Church
n April 13 — Palm Sunday, 10 a.m. at the Pine Grove church, on the corner of Van Horn and Eastside roads, with coffee hour to follow
n April 17 — Maundy Thursday, 6:30 p.m. at the Pine Grove church
n April 20 — Easter Sunday service, 10 a.m. at the Odell Methodist Church, on the main street in Odell (Highway 281)
Concordia Lutheran Church, 1107 Pine St.
n April 17 — Maundy Thursday Worship, 6:30 p.m.
n April 18 — Good Friday service will be at Bethany Lutheran, 2323 E. 12th St., The Dalles, at 6:30 p.m.
n April 20 — Easter Sunrise Service, at Idlewilde Cemetery, 6 a.m.; Easter Breakfast at Concordia Lutheran Church, 7:45 a.m.; Easter Church Service, 9 a.m.
Riverside Community Church, United Church of Christ

n April 13 — Palm Sunday, begins with a festive, family-friendly procession of the palms at 10:30.
n April 15 — A 45-minute meditative service of prayer and Taize music at 7 p.m.
n April 18 —Good Friday, candlelight service of prayer, music and reflection will recount the journey of Jesus to the cross and bring us into the dark and broken places of our own lives and world. The Riverside Chancel Choir will provide music. Service at 7 p.m.
n April 20 — Easter: The Riverside Youth group will serve Easter Brunch at 9 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m. Donations will be accepted for their upcoming mission trip. Service will begin at 10:30 with the flowering of the cross. The Riverside Chancel and Gospel choirs will provide music. An Easter egg hunt for the children will take place after the service.

I Can't Keep Quiet singers at "Citizen Town Hall"
‘I can’t keep quiet,’ sing members of an impromptu choir in front of Hood River Middle School Saturday prior to the citizen town hall for questions to Rep. Greg Walden. The song addresses female empowerment generally and sexual violence implicitly, and gained prominence during the International Women’s Day events in January. The singers braved a sudden squall to finish their song and about 220 people gathered in HRMS auditorium, which will be the scene of the April 12 town hall with Rep. Greg Walden, at 3 p.m. Enlarge
