EUGENE — Hood River Valley High School senior thrower Sebastian Barajas couldn’t have asked for a better start to his trip to Hayward Field for the 5A track and field state championships. The best thrower in the history of HRVHS is now the best discus thrower in the history of 5A, achieving a new record in the event with a throw of 199 feet, 10 inches — on his very first attempt Friday. The throw beat Barajas’ previous record by exactly 10 feet.

The Hood River News will have complete coverage in the Wednesday print and online editions of HRV’s and Horizon Christian’s trip to the state championships, held at the University of Oregon’s campus in Eugene.
