Eleazar “J.R.” Brooks, a Mount Hood, Ore., resident, died at home surrounded by family and friends March 11, 2009.
Viewing will be Friday, March 13, from noon until 4 p.m. at Anderson’s Tribute Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 14, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1501 Belmont Ave.
J.R. was born June 22, 1962, in San Diego, Calif., to Eleazar and Aurora (Martinez) Brooks. He was raised and educated in Chula Vista, Calif. J.R. lived in San Diego and Chula Vista, coming to the Hood River Valley in 1995.
He had worked in construction most of his life and had recently started his own business.
J.R. was a volunteer with Relay For Life and was also active with AA. He was always ready to help others any way he could.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hammon, of Mount Hood, Ore.; parents Eleazar and Aurora Brooks, of San Diego, Calif.; daughter, Brittany Brooks, of Hood River, Ore.; and brothers Jerry Brooks, of San Diego, and Dan Brooks, of Los Angeles, Calif. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins in California and Texas also survive.
